Klang Valley commuters will now have to pay more to get about the city as the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) readjusts the taxi and bus fares this week.<\/p>\n
According to a newly-released SPAD fact sheet, distance fares for budget taxis will increase from 10 sen for 115m to 25 sen per 200m. Flag-down rates for budget taxis will however remain at RM3 nationwide.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, flag-down rates for Teks1m cabs, marked by its brown Proton Exora make, will increase to RM4, with 30 sen to be charged per 200m.<\/p>\n
Express buses will see its current fare increase from 9.3 sen per km to 11.4 sen per km from May 15.<\/p>\n
With the new readjustments, a ticket to Ipoh from Kuala Lumpur that used to cost RM20.60 will now cost RM25.30, according to the fact sheet.<\/p>\n
The new fare structure is expected to coincide with the new Goods and Services Tax (GST). Fares of airport and executive taxis will remain unchanged.<\/p>\n
According to SPAD, the last taxi fare review was carried out in 2009.<\/p>\n
