Datuk Ahmad Maslan, the deputy finance minister, told the Dewan Rakyat that over RM6 billion was collected in Goods and Services Tax (GST).<\/p>\n
The amount was broken down into imports (RM3.36 billion) and GST nets (RM2.9 billion).<\/p>\n
\u201cA total of 447,236 business premises were checked between April 1 and June 1. Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism recorded 1,282 cases while the Customs Departments have opened 207 Investigation Papers (IP) for various offences.<\/p>\n
\u201cNew complaint centres are being set up at Penghulu\u2019s offices to assist the public who has questions on GST.<\/p>\n
\u201cRela officers are also roped in to channel information to Customs on the errant business operators to us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
