Starting noon on January 13, 10 toll plazas on four highways in the Klang Valley will go cash-free as a full-fledged electronic toll payment system takes effect.<\/p>\n
Drivers will have to use Smart Tags, Touch \u2018n Go or PLUS Miles cards at toll plazas located along the Maju Expressway (MEX), New Pantai Expressway (NPE), Cheras-Kajang Highway (Grand Saga) and the Kemuning Shah Alam Expressway (LKSA).<\/p>\n

The announcement was made last week at the MEX Highway Sdn Bhd office in Cyberjaya.<\/p>\n
Association of Highway Concessionaires State-Malaysia president Datuk Zainudin A. Kadir said the move is expected to reduce congestion and will enable a smoother drive for motorists, The Star<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n He added that all toll plazas involved will have 24-hour reload lanes.<\/p>\n The four highways that will implement the change have been giving out Touch n\u2019 Go cards for free since last month. In total, 140,000 cards will be given out.<\/p>\n Those who have not received or purchased a Touch \u2018n Go card can activate their MyKad if the latter has the Touch \u2018n Go logo, by loading pre-paid value on it.<\/p>\n Before January 13, each highway concessionaire will be offering Smart Tag units at RM99 for RM20 Touch \u2018n Go top up and 10% rebates for two months for all Class 1 motorists from January 13 to March 12.<\/p>\n The conversion of manual payment to electronic is an ongoing process that began in September 2015, with 12 toll plazas at three highways \u2013 the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway, Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway and the Storm Water Management and Road Tunnel (SMART).<\/p>\n Zainuddin said all toll plazas in the Klang Valley will be converted into the electronic toll payment system by the end of 2016.<\/p>\n Save money on petrol with the right petrol credit card<\/a>!<\/p>\n
