{"id":28910,"date":"2017-03-24T22:48:42","date_gmt":"2017-03-24T14:48:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/direct.imoney.my\/articles\/?p=28910"},"modified":"2018-01-24T12:32:41","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T04:32:41","slug":"new-staff-insurance-safety-net-says-najib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/new-staff-insurance-safety-net-says-najib","title":{"rendered":"New Staff Insurance A Safety Net, Says Najib"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An insurance scheme designed to be a safety net for retrenched staff is set to kick off next year.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the Employment Insurance System (EIS) will benefit around 6.5 million employees in the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEIS is aimed at employees who have lost their jobs. It will be a social safety net meant to provide financial help and assistance for workers in their job search,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>He added that employees will get temporary financial help and will be assisted in looking for a new job. These employees will also be given retraining or additional training to upgrade their skills.<\/p>\n<p>The new policy will be tabled in the June meeting of Parliament, he said, adding that it is expected to be implemented on January 1, 2018.
