{"id":36597,"date":"2018-12-07T15:49:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-07T07:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/?p=36597"},"modified":"2018-12-12T15:56:21","modified_gmt":"2018-12-12T07:56:21","slug":"ptptn-repayment-plan-suspended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/ptptn-repayment-plan-suspended","title":{"rendered":"PTPTN Repayment Plan Suspended After National Backlash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good news for everyone who was losing their cool over the\u00a0National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) new repayment plan that was announced yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik said that the new repayment plan announced by PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan is suspended for the time being.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ICLR PTPTN repayment scheme will be suspended for the time being until we receive collective input and feedback from all stakeholders,\u201d Education Minister Maszlee Malik announced on his official Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday,\u00a0PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan announced a repayment plan that did not sit well with the majority of Malaysians. Under the plan, PTPTN borrowers who are earning above RM2,000 would be subjected to scheduled salary deductions, ranging from RM 40 to RM1,200.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-36598\" src=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ptptn-800x395.png\" alt=\"ptptn payment plan \" width=\"800\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ptptn-800x395.png 800w, \/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ptptn-300x148.png 300w, \/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ptptn-768x379.png 768w, \/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ptptn.png 940w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Malaysians protested to the new payment plan &#8211; especially those who have been consistently paying the amount that was agreed between them and PTPTN prior to this. Arguing that the study loan body cannot unilaterally alter the terms of the contract. Others felt that the amount deducted from higher wage was exorbitant and would place an unnecessary burden on the people.<\/p>\n<p>[<a
