{"id":36890,"date":"2019-01-07T15:34:08","date_gmt":"2019-01-07T07:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/?p=36890"},"modified":"2021-08-19T14:54:08","modified_gmt":"2021-08-19T06:54:08","slug":"digi-mpay-mastercard-payment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/digi-mpay-mastercard-payment","title":{"rendered":"Digi, MPay And Mastercard Team Up To Offer New Digital Payment Option"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) has announced that they will be teaming up with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.managepay.com\/managepay\/\">ManagePay Systems Berhad<\/a> (MPay) and Mastercard to offer a new payment proposition in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>Through the partnership, the trio will be unveiling a new digital prepaid card,\u00a0which will be made available to the public in the first half of this year.\u00a0The card will be designed for those who prefer the convenience of online transactions when making their purchases.<\/p>\n<p>Customers can sign-up, activate and use the card within a mobile app as part of a simple, safe and secure end-to-end digital experience.\u00a0Malaysians can then make payments online and in-app anywhere in the world that accepts Mastercard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe want to play our part in assisting people to go cashless, and more importantly, offer them the convenience to do what they want on their devices. This partnership with MPay and Mastercard will give young Malaysians a new option to pay and purchase anywhere globally,\u201d\u00a0Praveen Rajan, Digi\u2019s Chief Digital Officer said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dato\u2019 Chew Chee Seng, MPay Group\u2019s Founder, Managing Director and CEO said the company looks forward to more Malaysians, both consumers and retailers, benefiting from digital payments via this partnership with Digi and Mastercard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Mastercard\u2019s latest Online Shopping Survey, more and more Malaysians are embracing online shopping. 89% of Malaysians have made at least one purchase by the end of 2017, compared to only 81% in 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAs Malaysia moves towards a cashless society, it is essential to meet the needs of the unbanked segment of the population.
