In conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, the government has announced that 33 highways throughout Malaysia will be toll-free for four days, to help Malaysians return to their hometowns and back to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Works Ministry<\/a> has shared a notice on the highways in Malaysia that will be toll-free from Wednesday to Friday (April 19 to <\/span>Apr 21, 2023<\/span>) and also next Monday (April 24).<\/span><\/p>\n

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced that the toll-free initiative, dubbed the free \u2018Rahmah\u2019 toll will be applicable to 33 highways and for all classes of vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe initiative will reduce the cost of paying tolls for people who are returning to celebrate Aidilfitri in their respective hometowns, and make it easier for them to plan their journey,\u201d he said during a press conference<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also announced that in order to combat massive traffic congestion that plagues the highways during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will implement Ops Lancar on Tuesday and Wednesday, focusing on areas which are prone to traffic jams.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same press conference, the prime minister also announced that an extra public holiday will be given. If the first day of Syawal falls on a Friday, then Monday will be given as an extra public holiday, but if Saturday is declared as the First of Syawal, then Friday will be the public holiday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This will help Muslim Malaysians immensely, as there has been a buildup of confusion and complications due to the uncertain date of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The official sighting of the new moon will happen tomorrow at 29 locations nationwide, and The Keeper of the Rulers\u2019 Seal will declare the date for Hari Raya that same night via radio and TV broadcasts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, there will\u00a0 be a special rate for Malaysians who want to pay their police fines and summonses. B<\/span>etween April 21 and May 21, PDRM will be offering a special rate of RM50 for the public to settle their traffic summonses issued before 2023. <\/span>However, this special rate is not applicable to traffic fines and summonses issued in 2023.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
