The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Bank Negara Malaysia recently held a meeting, in which they decided to maintain the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) at 3.00 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n In a statement, the central bank also mentioned that the global economy continues to grow, driven by strong domestic demand and good labour market conditions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On the other hand, global growth continues to be weighed down by persistent core inflation and higher interest rates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Other highlights of the BNM statement include:<\/span><\/p>\n Here\u2019s a snapshot of the OPR decisions since January 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n The central bank said at the current OPR level, the monetary policy stance is slightly accommodative and remains supportive of the economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, the MPC sees “limited risks” of future financial imbalances and remains vigilant to ongoing developments; promising to ensure that the monetary policy stance remains conducive to sustainable economic growth amid price stability.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The current stance remains supportive of the economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":58,"featured_media":56933,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[216],"tags":[521,982,826],"class_list":["post-56930","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-updates","tag-bank-negara-malaysia","tag-news","tag-opr"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n\n
