During his keynote speech prior to the Budget 2024 Consultation programme at the Finance Ministry last week, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that Government-Linked Companies (GLC) who offer internship programmes must pay their interns a monthly stipend of at least RM800.<\/span><\/p>\n While the prime minister agrees that individuals apply for internships primarily to undergo training and gain exposure and experience, he also said that some interns may also be underprivileged and need to support themselves or their families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTo set a good example, the Finance Ministry has instructed all GLCs hiring students undergoing practical training or internships to pay them at least RM800 monthly,\u201d he said during his speech.<\/span><\/p>\n
